Yeoh Seng Fatt, Owen Trainer Profile

Owen Yeoh holds an MBA from the University of Hull. Having set-up 2 training consultancy firms, he firmly beliefs in the continuous upgrading and re-skilling of the individual. Also holding a Post-graduate Diploma in Marketing (CIM, UK), the field of marketing is a passion to him. This appreciation of business is apparent in his learning solutions as his main focus is always on how learning impacts the effectiveness of an organization.

Owen is a sought after trainer, currently running the national train-the-trainers programme, ACTA. This programme equips trainers with the basic understanding and competency to run the national Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) programmes. His time is also spent leading a pool of programme developers to customize in-house training programmes for organisations from various industries.

He has also worked on the review of the National Retail Training Framework for WDA. The review requires him to work with over 40 industry members from 7 sub-sectors of the retail industry. In the process, he has been instrumental in re-scoping the retail competency map, conducting and managing scoping sessions, developing competency standards and managing validation sessions. This is his second review job after successfully completing the review of the Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment qualification.

Beyond the shores of Singapore, his experience has taken him to Malaysia, Australia and the USA working with both public as well as the private sector. In the public sectors, he has worked with:

Effectively bi-lingual in English and Malay, Owen has been instrumental in helping Yayasan MENDAKI develop, administer and deliver its community-based training programs, namely its Critical Enabling Skills Training (CREST) programs and more recently the Employability Skill System (ESS). Both programs are WDA-led national initiatives. The success of both systems is apparent in the take-up rate with the CREST program training well over 5000 training places from 2000 to 2004 and the ESS having trained over 4000 training places since 2004.

A certified MBTI practitioner, he is able to work with participants from different levels of the organization. In his capacity, he has helped organizations implement system-wide operations-level solutions as well as management-level training intervention.

To feed his passion in the field of Marketing, Owen also volunteer his services at a nominal sum to teach marketing programs. His latest session saw him taking a class leading to a Diploma in Marketing and Entrepreneurship with Watson Institute.
